Badshah Tea Miscellaneous Trade Cards People and Places 1968 People and Places 1968 25 - This colourful little set depicts scenes from around the world so for instance we see a map of Japan with girls in traditional dress or the Islands of Samoa with native dancers. Among the other people and places featured are Masai Warriors of East Africa, South Americans of the Andes Mountains, cowboys in the South of France, Beduins of the Middle East and Eskimos of the Arctic regions. There are some curious inclusions though like the card for India which is a vast country is full of colourful regional differences but is represented only by a Mahout and his elephant. Also considering there is a whole world to choose from why include a man and his coracle from Ireland or a bullock sleigh in Madeira and the card for Salvador does not even feature people just an erupting volcano. That said there is plenty to enjoy about these cards which are backed by interesting facts about the regions featured. This set was also issued by Askeys, Barratt & Co, Browne Bros., Clover Dairies, Gowers & Burgons, Hitchman’s Dairies, Lamberts Tea, Ringtons Ltd and Wilcocks & Wilcocks and these are the same except for the company name on the reverse. The cards are size 65 x 35mm.

Badshah Tea Military & Armed Forces British Cavalry Uniforms of the 19th Century 1963 British Cavalry Uniforms of the 19th Century 1963 25 - The title says it all really – these are colour drawings of cavalrymen in their uniforms which are set against a pastel background and whilst the uniforms are portrayed in all their detail they do look a little odd as only the saddle and flank of the horse is portrayed. Among those featured are an officer of the 2nd Life Guards from the Waterloo period, an 1905 officer of the 7th Queen’s Own Light Dragoons, a trooper (c1815) of the Royal North British Dragoons better known as the Scots Greys, a ‘Blues’ trooper of the Royal Horse Guards, a Life Guards officer in dress uniform as worn at the Coronation of King George IV, a 3rd (King’s Own) Light Dragons trooper of 1832, a trooper of the 13th Light Dragoons who formed part of the Light Brigade at Balaclava and a Sergeant of the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons from 1896. The numbered backs give plenty of information on the regiments and these are well worth adding to any collection. This series was also issued by Browne, Empson, Golden Grain, Ringtons and Willcocks and Willcocks with just the issuer’s name different. The cards are size 67 x 36mm
