Sporting Profiles Boxing Iron Mike Tyson Additional Card Tyson v Mc Bride 2005 Iron Mike Tyson Additional Card Tyson v Mc Bride 2005 L1 - The boxing continues on this card featuring the programme for the Tyson v McBride fight held in 2005 in Washington D.C. This card is an addition to the Tyson series issued in 2004 and I see that Laila Ali was also on the bill. The fight itself was not without controversy as a struggling Tyson quit his stool before the 7th round began meaning McBride won automatically on a technicality. The card back gives statistics for the rival boxers including birthplace and weight. Size 78 x 60mm.

Sporting Profiles Sports Miscellaneous Olympic Posters Summer Games Bonus Card Beijing 2008 (2008) Olympic Posters Summer Games Bonus Card Beijing 2008 (2008) L1 - Sporting Profiles produced a set of Olympic Posters Summer Games in 2003 and now we have a bonus card from 2008 showing the medal table for the games held in Beijing that year. Needless-to-say China topped the medal table that year followed by America and Russia, but Britain made it into a very respectable fourth place with a haul of 19 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze medals. It is hard to remember now just how significant this haul was as, this was of course eclipsed by the later London games, but at the time it was a cause for national celebration. The front shows the symbol for the Beijing games and the Olympic rings whilst the back shows the medal table from China in top position down to France in tenth place. Size 79 x 60mm

Sporting Profiles Boxing The Greatest Muhammad Ali Wild Card Ali v Marciano Computer Bout 1997 The Greatest Muhammad Ali Wild Card Ali v Marciano Computer Bout 1997 L1 - This card is a supplement to the Muhammad Ali A Career History set issued in 1993. The card is based on a fictious bout between Ali and the retired Rocky Marciano. Basically data on their styles, previous fights etc. was fed into a computer then the men were filmed in various situations and with different endings. The film was then edited and the ending chosen based on the computer’s prediction before being shown on TV in the 1970s. According to the computer Marciano would have taken a beating, but would knock Ali out in the 13th round. When the film was show in this country on the BBC many viewers complained of racisim and the next week they showed a different version with Ali triumphing. This card shows a mock-up of a fight poster for the two and the informative text on the back tells you all about the greatest fight to never happen. Size 80 x 61mm.

Sporting Profiles Boxing The Greatest Muhammad Ali Wild Card Clay v Lavorante 1997 The Greatest Muhammad Ali Wild Card Clay v Lavorante 1997 L1 - Here we have another supplementary card to the Muhammad Ali A Career History set dated 1993. This time we go right back to 1962 when Ali was still known as Cassius Clay and in his 15th professional fight he met Argentinian Alejandro Lavorante at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. At that stage Ali was still the underdog although he had an unbeaten record and many were surprised at the short work he made of defeating Laorante. Ali had predicted he would down Lavorante in round five and that is just what he did. Of course as we all know this was just the start of a long and impressive career for the young Clay/Ali. The colour front shows the poster for the fight whilst the text on the back covers all the action. Size 80 x 61mm.
