Glengettie Tea Military & Armed Forces Naval Battles 1971 Naval Battles 1971 25 - This is an interesting idea for a set and one that must have provided a challenge to those in charge of illustration, but they have made a fine job of it and the colour pictures of ships in battle action are very well done. The set begins with a look at Romans against Carthaginians at time when ships required oarsmen to get them close enough to board each other. The romp through history continues with Drake’s fire-ships, the battle of Scheveningen in the war with the Dutch, the recapture of the ‘Hermione’, the capture of the ‘Serapis’ by John Paul Jones of the American navy, H.M. Brig Acorn chasing a slaver, Nelson’s flagship at Tragalgar, the ‘Shannon’ and Chesapeake in 1813, the Peruvian ‘Huascar’ which took on two Chilean ships, the battle of Santiago in the Spanish American War, the Battle of Jutland in the First World War and a number of cards featuring incidents in the Second World War including H.M.S ‘Warspite’ in action at Narvik, the torpedo of a Japanese cruiser off Singapore and the sinking of the German warship ‘The Bismarck’. There is plenty of information on the reverse about the naval action. This set was also issued by Amalgamated Tobacco c1958, Hitchman Dairies in 197, Amaran Tea in 91971 and Sweetule Products in 1959. Colourful and educational so well worth adding to any collection. Cards size 67 x 36mm.

Glengettie Tea Birds, Butterflies & Moths Rare British Birds 1967 Rare British Birds 1967 25 - Issued with Glengettie Tea these cards feature birds you would be very lucky to see in the wild in Britain – like the American Robin caught on Lundy in 1952 and sighted occasionally since or the Myrtle Warbler (another American species perhaps blown here accidentally) plus many other non-native species which through a freak of nature finish up in the British Isles to the delight of ornithologists. The fronts feature delightful colour drawings of the birds and the backs contain information such as the bird’s origin and how many times it has been seen here. An interesting set with cards size 68 x 36mm
