Indian Regiments 1912 (reprint 2001)
British American Tobacco (without firms name) Reprinted Series Indian Regiments 1912 (reprint 2001) Indian Regiments 1912 (reprint 2001) 50 - These are reprints of a set originally produced in 1912 in the days before Indian independence when the country was still under British rule. That said these are nice cards picturing in colour native soldiers from different Indian regiments including a Sowar or trooper of the ‘18th King George’s Own Lancers, a Subadar of the 5th Gurkha Riffles, a Sepoy of the 26th Punjabis, a Naick or Corporal of the 15th Ludhiana Sikhs, a Gunner of the 21st Mountain Battery, a Jemadar of the Governor’s Body Guard in Madras, a Gun Elephant & Mahout of the Heavy Battery Royal Garrison Artillery, Major-General His Highness Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh and a Sowar of the Bikanir Camel Corps. The numbered backs just give the title of the subject and it would have been nice to have more information, but the pictures more than make up for this and it is amazing how many different styles and colours of uniforms there were. These cards are size 68 x 36mm.
