Gerard Military - General Series Modern Armaments unnumbered issue 1936 Modern Armaments unnumbered issue 1936 50 - When this set was first reviewed in our magazine C.C.N back in 1936 it was described as “very much of the moment and exceedingly interesting.” The review also stated that “the cards are the same size as Rothman’s series from the same period which is no surprise as by 1936 Louis Gerard Limited had become part of the Rothmans group”. This photographic series contains warships, aeroplanes, tanks, guns etc. with an explanatory title in the bottom white border. The backs are un-numbered with details of the issuer, title of the set and confirms that the subjects are “from actual photographs”, but sadly contains no information about the pictures. Among the subjects covered are an observation balloon, battle cruiser, anti-aircraft gun, firing a naval torpedo, a giant flying boat, a sound detector, giant submarine, heavy tank on manoeuvres, an aircraft carrier with planes on deck, night bomber, machine rifle, tanks in action, howitzers, field dress, searchlight apparatus and some grim reminders of the First World War such as troops in their trenches prepared for gas attack and erecting barbed wire. This was also produced as a numbered set. A fascinating series with cards size 65 x 39mm.

Lychgate Press Miscellaneous Trade Cards Manchester Street Art 2019 Manchester Street Art 2019 M10 - Well done to Lychgate Press for covering this unusual subject. As the cards explain these cover works of art that have adorned buildings in Manchester, but are not graffiti as these were produced with the blessing of the council or owner. These are colourful, often humorous and sometimes just downright weird but all make a statement and add character to the area. The backs make up into a sectional picture of another work of art and details of the vibrant Manchester art scene are given on the right-hand side. As the card says most of this artwork is ever changing and can disappear overnight so why not buy these cards and have a permanent record. The cards are size 78 x 50mm
