Carreras A Special Offer of £2, £3 and £5 Sets Military Uniforms 1976 Military Uniforms 1976 50 - This set takes a look at British uniforms from 1860 to 1960 and provides a historical record of the changing times in the armed services. We see how breeches give way to trousers and the ornate braiding, gold edging and lace are gradually pared down. The set starts with a Musketeer of the King’s Royal Regiment of Guards in 1660 with his blue breeches and red gaiters and continues with an officer of the First Regiment of Foot Guards 1685, a Garde Te Voet in stunning blue and gold uniform who accompanied William of Orange when he succeeded to the British throne, a Private of the Grenadier Company 1791, a Sergeant of the Coldstream Regiment of Foot from the time of the American Revolutionary Wars, an 1812 Foot Guards Ensign carrying the regimental colour, a Light Company Officer of the Scots Fusilier Guards 1846, Coldstream Guards Drummer, a Grenadier Guards Pioneer of 1853 portrayed with apron and axe, 1853 Bandsman etc. Also included is a 1925 Subaltern wearing “plus fours” and puttees which had been adopted in the First World War, battle dress from 1950, kilts of the Irish and Scots Guards and No. 1 Dress of the Coldstream Guards of 1960. Good pictures with informative text on the reverse. An album was also issued to accompany this set. Size 69 x 36mm

Wix Miscellaneous Cigarette Cards Jenkynisms 3rd Series (25 different cards from the set of 30) 1932 Jenkynisms 3rd Series (25 different cards from the set of 30) 1932 L25 out of 30 - These cards were issued with the company’s K4’s cigarettes and as the cards explain the cigarettes came in packs of 20 with an additional 4 cigarettes which could be shared with friends. The fronts picture a Jeeves type butler called Jenkyn set in a yellow background who gives advice such as “Your ‘twenty’ will last longer if you keep one of the separately wrapped ‘tens’ until tomorrow – and then, Sir, you still have the added 4!”. The backs are a mixture of adverts for the product, again with helpful hints from Jenkyn including how to open the packet properly! This is a part set of 25 cards our of 30. A novel concept with cards size 76 x 65mm.

Wills Flowers and the Garden Garden Hints 1938 (Home issue Album offer with price) Garden Hints 1938 (Home issue Album offer with price) 50 - These cards contain clear colour pictures and diagrams showing the method to follow for successful projects in the garden with plenty of tips on the numbered backs, most of which is still applicable today. We are not just talking about planting and pruning tips, although these are included, as there are instructions for laying crazy paving, making a very ornate water-lily pool or dovecot, preserving apples, even how to make your own propagating frame. These were issued in an age when you couldn’t just nip to the garden centre and even the most ambitious of designs had to be achieved yourself. This set was also issued in Ireland and the Channel Islands and would make a good present for anyone new to gardening as there are plenty of basic practical hints. Cards size 68 x 36mm

Lot 17

Our star lot in this auction is a real gem which is both historic and interesting. This is lot 17 a Lambert & Butler set of 25 Motors dating from 1908 and in very good condition estimated at £750. The colourful and detailed drawings include an Itala car that won the Pekin to Paris race, a 32mph motor omnibus, a Siddeley Limousine, a Mercedes owned by King Edward VII, a White steam car, an Arrol-Johnson car with skis on its front wheels, a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, Rover Coupe and the 200mph Darracq which was then the fastest in the world. The backs contain plenty of facts about the vehicle making this a set not to be missed.

Rittenhouse (USA) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Twin Peaks 2019 Twin Peaks 2019 LT72 - This set looks at some of the characters from the American mystery/horror TV show which was first aired in 1990. Although cancelled in 1991 after its second series it has attained a cult following. The story concerns the investigation by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper and local Sheriff Harry S. Truman into the murder of Laura Palmer in the fictional town of Twin Peaks. The story is a mix of horror, supernatural and straight forward detective work and it made a comeback in 2017 when a third series was aired. This sets pictures in colour two characters per card and the backs tell you more about them. A must for fans of the show with cards size 89 x 64mm.

Solo Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Glamour Girls 32nd Series (From the 1950s,1960s and 1970s) 2019 Glamour Girls 32nd Series (From the 1950s,1960s and 1970s) 2019 10 - These blue tinted photos of lesser known actresses, singers and models are still proving very popular and we have now reached the 32nd set. Included here are Logan’s Run actress Lara Lindsey, Barbara Valentin who was a close friend of singer Freddie Mercury, Rena Horten who appeared in the 1960s ‘Mission Impossible’ series, Italian born Adriana Ambesi, French actress Agnes Laurent who played Madelaine LaFarge in ‘A French Mistress’, singer turned actress Andrea Marcovicci, Anna Palk who appeared in TV dramas such as ‘Jason King’ and ‘The Persuaders’, but who sadly died aged just 48, Annie Potts who voiced the part of Bo Peep in Toy Story and had a part in the Ghostbusters movie, Carole Lesley who ran away from home at 16 to become a star and Elizabeth Baur who appeared in ‘Ironside’. As always there is plenty of fascinating information on the card backs. Size 68 x 36mm
