Kane Native North American Indians and Cowboys Red Indians 2nd Series 1957 Red Indians 2nd Series 1957 25 - This set (numbered 26 to 50) is the second in a series of fifty cards issued under the title Red Indians in 1958 and contains colour depictions of native Americans and their way of life. Some cards cover general customs such as sun worship or war dance, whilst others are split into regions and give the chiefs, houses and life-styles of Eastern, South Western, Plains and North Western Tribes. The remainder of the cards cover interaction between natives and settlers including the story of Pocohontas and Cutler’s last stand. There are plenty of interesting facts on the reverse, for instance, we are told that whole villages of North-Western tribes would come together to hunt whales and the picture shows how brave this was as they tackle a huge whale with simple harpoons from wooden boats. This set was also issued by Gaycon Products in 1960. A fascinating look at native life in North America with cards 67 x 35mm.
