Coronation Series 1937
Bridgewater Royalty Coronation Series 1937 Coronation Series 1937 K48 - This set of black and white photos was issued in celebration of the coronation of H.M King George VI and includes members of the royal family past and present such as Queen Victoria, the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, royal palaces, Westminster Abbey and the State Coach. The cards are titled on the front but have plain backs and although small they include some charming shots of the King as a child, at official events and at leisure playing tennis etc. There is also a photo titled “The King and Queen on their honeymoon 1923”. These are little gems with cards size 49 x 28mm.

Brooke Bond (Canada) Brooke Bond Tea Card Issues Transportation Through the Ages (Back top line in black) 1967 Ref CU10 Transportation Through the Ages (Back top line in black) 1967 Ref CU10 48 - This excellent series covers all manor of transport from an elephant howdah to the Apollo space rocket which we are told would be “America’s first manned circumlunar flight” and “scheduled for completion by the end of the 1960s”. We follow the development of transport from animal drawn chariots and carts, sailing boats, balloons and Stephenson’s Rocket through to modern diesel locomotives, ships and cars. Included amongst the cars is “Bluebird” in which Donald Campbell broke the world land speed record in 1964. Elsewhere in the set we see a Sno-Cat used to explore Antarctica in 1957, a Westland ‘Whirlwind’ helicopter of the Queen’s Flight, a Boeing 727 airliner, a hydrofoil, hovercraft and nuclear submarine. The lovely colour drawings are accompanied by interesting text on the reverse in both English and French. These cards were issued in Red Rose & Blue Ribbon tea and coffee and an album was also issued to accompany the set. Cards size 68 x 36mm.

As we normally do we have singled out one lot to highlight in the introduction which this month is lot 17 a Wills Overseas set of 50 Prominent Australian and English Cricketers (Ref W.59.8) 1907 (catalogued at £800 in very good condition) which with a few cards fair and the rest good to very good is estimated at £650 . This includes English players like Somerset’s L.C. Braund and W. Rhodes of Yorkshire as well as Australian players like Victoria’s V.S. Ransford and A. Cotter of N.S.W.

Soccer Star Cards Football Super Soccer (Footballers from the 1950s to 1970s) 2019 Super Soccer (Footballers from the 1950s to 1970s) 2019 10 - This is another football set which this time features players from the 1950s to 1970s period who include Leeds United’s Gary Sprake, Welsh born Ron Davies of Southampton, Man. City’s Denis Law later played for rivals Man. United, Birmingham’s Gordon Taylor better known as head of the P.F.A., West Brom’s Jeff Astle, Derek Dougan of Wolves who later managed the club, Stoke’s Geoff Hurst who was also one of the heroes of England’s 1966 World Cup victory, Bob Hatton of Blackpool, Sunderland’s Frank Worthington who was Division One top scorer in the 1978/79 season and Don rogers of Crystal Palace. The numbered backs have plenty of information on the players and their careers making this an appealing set for any football fan. Cards size 68 x 36mm

J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football Huddersfield Town 1952/53 Team Squad 2018 Huddersfield Town 1952/53 Team Squad 2018 LT16 - These cards celebrate the Huddersfield Town football team of the 1952/53 season who having been relegated from the First Division the previous season made an instant return, finishing up as runners-up just two points behind the champions Sheffield United. These black and white pictures introduce us to the team, ending with a team photo. The players include Vic Metcalfe who earned two England caps as well as making 434 league appearances for the club, Roy Shiner who scored a hat-trick in the final game of the season, goalie Jack Wheeler and Jimmy Glazzard who missed just one game that season and scored 30 goals. There are career \r\ndetails on the number backs and the cards are size 92 x 64mm
