Your Journey Through Disneyland 1988
Sanitarium (New Zealand) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Your Journey Through Disneyland 1988 Your Journey Through Disneyland 1988 M20 - These days there are Disney theme parks around the world, but the one referred to in this set is in Anaheim, California, These colourful cards take us on a tour beginning with a Disney character parade down Main Street and the Disneyland Railroad before touring the different zones such as Adventureland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland. Each area has its own rides and attractions so, for instance, Adventureland contains a Jungle Cruise where you ride a river boat past tropical plants and lifelike animals and Fantasyland includes Captain Hooks boat, a replica pirate ship from Peter Pan. Dominating everything is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle a famous landmark which is illuminated in different colours at night and which forms a backdrop for fireworks. In the New Orleans Square section there are attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion whilst Bear Country contains Davy Crockett’s explorer canoes and the famous Mark Twain Steamboat can be found giving tours in the Frontierland section including a view of rollercoaster Big Thunder Mountain. The last area we visit is Tomorrowland which can be reached by monorail train and includes a Star Wars based tour and Mission to Mars rocket ride. The set ends with a picture and details of a Continental airlines plane. An album was also available at the time. We are sure the park is much changed these days, but these cards provide a snapshot of the park in the 1980s, backed by informative text. Cards size 72 x 56mm
