British American Tobacco Set of 48 Channel Islands Past and Present 3rd Series 1939
I'm sure I am not alone in having had some wonderful holidays in the Channel Islands. My first visit to Guernsey was not long after the war and I have been back many times since. The islands have a great charm which makes you want to return again and again, and we can see why in a delightful series of 48 views, aerial, landscape and historic issued by British American Tobacco as their Channel Islands Past & Present Third Series of 1939. The first half of the hand-coloured photographic set is devoted to Guernsey, the second half to Jersey. Rekindling fond memories of holidays are the views of Petit Bot, Moulin Huet and Fermain Bay in Guernsey, and Portelet and St. Ouen's in Jersey, but there are many other examples "historic Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth Castles, St Peter Port and St Helier" even the West Park Pavilion, "the Palais de Danse completed in 1931 and replete with attractive features for the entertainment and refreshment of visitors" enthuses the text on no. 33. And, of course, there's Corbiere Lighthouse, the welcoming beacon at the end of the voyage from Weymouth.
This set of British American Tobacco Channel Island Past and Present 3rd Series in very good condition is catalogued at £20.00
