Wills Set of L30 British Aviation 1994
Our magazine, Card Collectors News, tells the story this month of pioneer women fliers, one of the most famous of whom was Amy Johnson. The Gypsy Moth in which she flew solo to Australia in 1930 is pictured in our set of the month for May, Wills’ L30 British Aviation. Amy’s aircraft was presented to the Science Museum where it remains to this day. This card series begins with the Roe Triplane, which in 1909 made the first successful flight of an all-British aeroplane, and takes us via World War I and record breakers of the 1930s, to the iconic Hurricane, Spitfire, Lancaster and Mosquito of World War II, and on to the Vulcan, Harrier and Tornado. Eric Bottomley’s specially commissioned artwork is superb and the texts are extremely informative even telling us where examples can be seen today. Sea Harrier.
This set of L30 British Aviation issued by Wills in mint condition is catalogued at £36.00
