Set of the Month - June 2007
Morning Foods Set of P24 British Planes (unnumbered) 1953
Our set of the month for June is a series of 24 in-flight photographs of British planes, issued in 1953 by Morning Foods with their “Mornflake” oats. At that time the British aeronautic industry was a world leader and many of the aircraft in this set will be familiar today, among them the Canberra, Valient, Venom, Vulcan and Britannia. Details of design, equipment and performance include topical data such as the Swift jet fighter being in “super-priority” production for the R A F and having flown from Brussels to London on 10th July 1952 in 18 minutes, and the De Havilland 110 having broken the sound barrier on 9th April 1952, piloted by the late John Derry. Less well-known, perhaps, is the Saunders-Roe A/1, the first jet propelled flying boat fighter ever built and the Bristol 173, Britain’s first twin-rotor helicopter.
This set of P24 British Planes (unnumbered) issued by Morning Foods in1953 in finest collectable/mint condition is catalogued at £15.00
