Primrose Confectionery Set of 50 Laurel & Hardy (paper thin card) 1972
Our Set of the Month for July dates back forty years to 1972 when the Primrose Confectionery Co. issued 50 of Larry Harmon’s Laurel & Hardy cartoons on paper-thin cards with their packets of sweet cigarettes. The Editor of Card Collectors News has always been a big fan of the comedy duo, and he actually had the honour of meeting them in person as a child on their tour of British theatres, which must have been about 1950. Stan and Olly’s cine career began in 1926 and they made a total of 104 short and feature length films, the last being “Atoll K” in 1951. Their innocent, childlike characters appeal to audiences just as much today. This set is brilliantly illustrated and the backs bear humorous interactive dialogue. Every card’s a little gem, and a worthy tribute to these wonderful performers.
This set of Primrose Confectionery 50 Laurel & Hardy (paper thin issue) of 1972 in Mint Condition is catalogued at £60.00.
