R & J Hill Set of L50 Historic Places From Dickens Classics 1926
In celebration of the birth of Charles Dickens two hundred years ago, our Set of the Month for February is R & J Hill's classic series of 50 large-size Historic Places From Dickens’ Classics issued in 1926. Beginning with a portrait of the author himself and a picture of the house where he was born, the cards go on to depict locations used by the author in his novels such as The Old Curiosity Shop, Miss Haversham’s House, Captain Cuttles’ Lodgings, Quilp’s Wharf, Dotheboys Hall, Mrs.Gamp’s Lodging and so on., plus Fort House at Broadstairs where Dickens spent fourteen summers writing and the house at 48 Doughty Street, London W.C where Dickens wrote ‘Oliver Twist’ and several other works which according to the card was bought by the Dickens Fellowship in 1924 and “is open daily to the public, containing many relics of the great novelist and a library of his books on all matters relating to Dickens.”
This set of R & J Hill L50 Historic Places From Dickens Classics 1926 in very good condition is catalogued at £30.00.
