Brooke Bond Set of 50 Out Into Space 1958
Fifty years ago this month, collectors welcomed a new card series from Brooke Bond, fifty Out Into Space. Remember, this was some fourteen months before the beginning of the 'space race' marked by the Russians launching Sputnik 1, and so this set is prior to the exciting developments that culminated in Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon on July 20th 1969. Out Into Space therefore concentrates on astronomy, and are endorsed by Dr. Hunter, secretary of the Royal Astronomical Society. Beginning with the Sun, the Moon and the planets, followed by a section on the signs of the Zodiac, the series moves on to the principal constellations, ending with cards dealing with radio telescopes and the composition of a star. These 1956 cards bore the words 'issued with Brooke Bond' at base. Our set of the month for August is the 1958 printing 'issued in packets', a great opportunity to acquire a scarce Brooke Bond set, one of the earliest from this acclaimed issuer.
This set of 50 Out Into Space series issued by Brooke Bond Tea in finest collectible condition is catalogued at £50.00.
