Our choice for March is a series which appeared with "Festoon" confectionery exactly fifty years ago. It is Dickson Orde & Co’s fifty Footballers in colour head and shoulders portraits and action pictures, but, unusually several players have been photographed in the dressing room, so we see Jimmy Armfield tying his laces, Luton's Gordon Turner pouring the tea, Gerry Harris on the scales and J. Higgins pulling up his sock. Among the all-time greats are Stanley Matthews, who was never booked, Bobby Robson who died only last year, versatile England forward Tom Finney and Billy Wright who held the then-record of 105 England caps. A terrific set in mint condition and offered at a massive discount.
