| Mention Transport Through The Ages
and most collectors would automatically think Brooke Bond. But there
is another entirely different series of the same name - in fact two
series 1 to 25 and 26 to 50 issued with Charter Tea. As the first
card states the series depicts "the various modes of transport
from the earlier days of civilisation to the present day", that
being, I would guess, the early 1960s because the final card,
"Space Travel", refers to "the launching of many
satellites around our earth, the moon and the sun". As you
might expect the arrangement is more or less chronological, taking
us from a litter in Ancient Egypt and a coracle on the Tigris via
beasts of burden, carts, sailing ships and such like, through to
20th century transport in the form of modern cars, railway engines
and buses, the "Queen Elizabeth", jet airliners,
hovercraft and, of course, space travel. The colour pictures are
backed by very informative texts.
This set of 50 Charter Tea
Transport Through The Ages in finest collectible condition is
catalogued at £35.00.
