One of the greatest cricketers of
all time was Don Bradman. Back in 1935, Bradman held the world record for the
highest score and had been rampant during the Australian Test Teams 1934
tour of England, finishing with 224 in the final match at the Oval, as we
discover on no. 2 of Ardaths Sports Champions, our set of the month for
November. Apart from cricket, a wide range of other sports is covered, and we
meet heroes such as Fred Perry, then ranked worlds no. 1 tennis player,
and Bunny Austin, Alex James Arsenals Scottish
international inside-left, open golf champion Henry Cotton, Australian Speedway
ace Vic Huxley, six times Derby winner Steve Donoghue and six times champion
jockey Gordon Richards, legendary billiards players Tom Newman and Joe Davis,
world land speed record holder Sir Malcolm Campbell, leading yachtsman and
aviation pioneer Tommy Sopwith (of Sopwith Camel fame) and champion boxer Len
Harvey. Among a host of other worthies is Tel Phelps. Perhaps not in the same
hall of fame league as the others mentioned, Ted gained the eighth
victory for the Phelps family in the historic Doggetts Coat and Badge
race on the Thames. All in all, this set is a wonderful record of sporting
achievement and is offered in top VG condition at an offer price not to be
missed. This set of 50 Ardath
Sports Champions 1935 in Very Good Condition is catalogued at £55.00,
