As it is the Queen's Jubilee this
month, we have chosen one of the perhaps lesser-known sets in which she is
featured. Issued in 1937, two month's before the Coronation of King George VI
and Queen Elizabeth, Lea's Coronation Souvenir is a series of 48 black and
white photos picturing the King, members of the Royal Family, the aristocracy,
the Archbishops of Canterbury and London, Westminster Abbey inside and out, the
Coronation Regalia and Robes, the Crown Jewels, the State Coach, the Palace,
landmarks on the Coronation route, Sandringham and Glamis. This is a cleverly
conceived and well-thought out combination which would have primed the
collector of the day with a wealth of pertinent information in the run-up to
the big event. A worthy set, so reasonably priced, and it is offered in finest
collectible condition at £20.00.
