British Railways 1964
British Railways 1964 25 - Hitchman’s series of 25 British Railways issued in 1964 at a time of change, so we see “The Atlantic Coast Express” and “The Golden Arrow” under steam, but “The Midland Pullman” and “The Shamrock” (Liverpool to Euston) are diesel hauled the latter with green carriages instead of maroon, a mistake by the artist. Size 68 x 36mm

Britains Lost Railway Stations 2005
Britains Lost Railway Stations 2005 10 - A double treat for railway buffs, this set not only depicts platform views of stations which were closed from the 1950s onwards, many due to Dr. Beeching’s cuts, but each photo also shows a train, including the Pines Express steaming through Blandford Forum on the old Somerset & Dorset. Among the other stations are Mold, Long Melford and Midsomer Norton. Very comprehensive and interesting text backs. size 68 X 36mm

Early Locomotives Series One 2005
Early Locomotives Series One 2005 10 - The pioneering days of the railways are recalled in this series illustrating steam engines built between 1825 and 1847. It’s no surprise that no. 1 is George Stephenson’s ‘Locomotion’, the first to run on a public railway when the Stockton and Darlington line opened, whilst no. 2 is Robert Stephenson’s ‘Rocket’ which won the 1829 Rainhill Trials. The most recent is Crampton’s ‘London’ which could run at more than 50mph. size 68 x 37mm

Early Locomotives Series Two 2005
Early Locomotives Series Two 2005 10 - This selection of early steam engines takes us forward from the mid-nineteenth century with performance constantly improving. The Jenny Lind (1847) was constructed for a number of railway companies at a peak production of one per week, whilst Gooch’s 8-footer was built to demonstrate Brunnel’s Great Western Railway was superior to the standard 4’8” guage. As with the first series, the locos. are shown in colour on a white background, with text backs. size 68 X 37mm

Meccano The Railway Covers 2006
Meccano The Railway Covers 2006 10 - More front covers from the heyday of Meccano Magazine dated between 1929 and 1963 are illustrated by dramatic pictures of Britain’s steam railway history – a Flying Scotsman-type Pacific, the 1939 “New Coronation Scot”, “The White Rose” departing Leeds in 1951, a Britannia Loco hauling the westbound “Merchant Venturer” in 1952, a magnificent Gresley A4 streamlined Pacific leaving Kings Cross with “The Norseman” for Newcastle in 1956, express goods from Aberdeen on the Forth Bridge and so on. Terrific. Size 68 x 36mm
