Included are well-established stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Joan Blondell, Carole Lombard, Maureen O’Sullivan, Anna Neagle and Florence Desmond. But there is also a bevy of new glamorous stars who were to become wartime pin-ups boosting forces’ morale, Olivia De Havilland, Deanna Durbin, Betty Grable and Dorothy Lamour. The film studios are named on the backs, together with an advert for a slip-in album “obtainable from all tobacconists, price one penny”. Those were the days! Size 68 x 36mm

Most are show-girls rather than film actresses, and in many cases the venue at which they are appearing is mentioned – seven of them at Rose’s Casa Manana, others at Rose’s Diamond Horseshoe, Paradise Restaurant, Midnight Sun Cabaret, Fischer’s International Casino and Hollywood Restaurant, and many of the photos are attributed to “Murray Korman, N.Y” implying American origin.
