He won an Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in 'The African Queen', but will probably be even better remembered for his gritty, gravely-voiced roles in a range of gangster movies and thrillers. Volume 1 now covers his earlier appearances started with ‘Haunted Gold’ in 1932 and culminating in the 1939 film ‘Stagecoach’ which was a huge critical success and brought superstar status for Marian Morrison (John’s real name). The fronts are colour reproductions of the original cinema posters and the casts are listed on the backs. Size 78 x 60mm.
